TO BE SEEN, YOU HAVE TO MAKE YOURSELF VISIBLE

Safety is at the heart of the development of equipment for 2- and 3-wheelers.

Whatever the roads you take, you can be sure of being visible to other road users with the EN 17353 standard.

PROTECTION FOR ALL - Bering

OUR AIM: PROTECTION FOR ALL

For 30 years, we've been proud to equip all motorcyclists.

Our aim is to offer you protection and comfort on all your journeys.

That's why all our equipment benefits from the latest innovations and is approved to current standards.

But this protection would not be complete without a new approach to safety on the road: being visible to everyone.

Visibility for greater safety - Bering

VISIBILITY FOR GREATER SAFETY

Inspired by the headlights that protect road users, our new design element is called the "Signal" . Be visible and recognisable with our new elegant and modern symbol, instantly recognisable to everyone.

BERING has incorporated the EN 17353 standard to protect its users by making them more visible in situations of limited visibility.

The simplicity of the Signal makes it instantly recognisable and a strong differentiating feature in the eyes of road users.

Retro-reflective protection - Bering

PROTECTION THROUGH RETRO-REFLECTION

This garment has been designed to provide increased visibility through retroreflective elements, in accordance with the NF EN 17353 standard.

These elements are strategically placed where users need them most, allowing for better a identification.

Understanding the EN 17353 standard - Bering

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE EN 17353 STANDARD

The EN 17353 standard for enhanced vision equipment for moderate risk situations was adopted by the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN) on 5 July 2020.

It specifies the visibility requirements for enhanced visualization equipment for moderate risk situations.

What level of visibility?- Bering

WHICH LEVEL OF VISIBILITY?

The standard defines 3 clothing classifications:

  • Type A - daytime visibility: the garment is made exclusively of fluorescent material

  • Type B - visibility in darkness: the garment has retroreflective elements
    • B1: freely suspended
    • B2: on the limbs (legs or arms)
    • B3: on the torso or on the torso and limbs

  • Type AB - daytime, half-daytime and night-time visibility: the garment combines retroreflective and fluorescent materials (note: these are not EN 20471-certified high-visibility garments).

Visible at all times - Bering

VISIBLE AT ALL TIMES

BERING products are class B2 and therefore have a minimum retroreflective surface that must appear on the lower and/or upper limbs. The minimum surface area of reflective material must be greater than or equal to 180 cm².

Only signaled by the motorcycle headlights, the integration of the requirements of this standard on BERING protective equipment allows motorcyclists to benefit from increased visibility in areas not illuminated by light elements.

What is retro-reflective? - Bering

WHAT IS RETRO-REFLECTIVE?

This is a specific phenomenon used to describe the reflection of light from a medium back to its source.

How does this happen? - Bering

HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN?

The microbead film provides effective light reflection by adding glass microbeads to an acrylic resin. The resulting mixture is then applied to the metal mirror.

Each microbead has an important effect, acting as a 90° mirror. The light rays are reflected back to the road user, who can see them even in complete darkness.
