HOW TO CLEAN YOUR blouson?
An essential piece of equipment for biker protection, the blouson has become an iconic piece for motorcycle enthusiasts. But do you know how to clean your motorcycle blouson?
In this section, you will find all the necessary steps for maintaining your blouson BERING, whether it is leather or textile material.
CLEANING YOUR LEATHER
1. Preparation: Before starting, make sure you have all the necessary tools. You will need a soft sponge, a clean microfiber cloth, a mild soap (like Marseille soap/regenerating soap), a specific leather cleaner, a leather conditioner, and a protective coating (optional). Remove the shells and lining from the blouson/ the jacket.
2. Dusting: Use the soft sponge to dust the leather blouson. This will help remove surface dirt and dust particles.
Pre-test: Before applying any cleaning product to the entire blouson, perform a test on a small inconspicuous area to ensure the product does not cause discoloration or damage.
3. Cleaning: Slightly dampen the soft sponge with warm (demineralized) water, then apply a small amount of mild soap on it. Gently foam the sponge by rubbing the leather blouson in circular motions. Avoid using excessive pressure, as this could damage the leather. Clean a small section at a time, rinsing the sponge regularly and wringing it out.
Stain removal: If your leather blouson has stubborn stains, you can try using a specific leather cleaner. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for application and stain removal.
4. Rinsing: Once you have finished cleaning the entire blouson, rinse the sponge to remove any soap residue, then wring it out. Lightly pass the damp sponge over the leather blouson to remove any soap residue.
5. Drying: Gently blot the leather blouson with a clean microfiber cloth to remove excess moisture. Never hang the blouson to dry, as this could deform its shape. Let it dry flat in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight or any heat source.
Conditioning and protection: Once the leather blouson is completely dry, apply a high-quality leather conditioner to restore hydration and suppleness to the leather. Follow the product's instructions for application. If desired, you can also apply a protective coating to help prevent future stains and damage.
CLEANING YOUR TEXTILE
1. Preparation: Gather all necessary tools, including a soft brush, a clean cloth, lukewarm water, a mild soap (like a soap for delicate garments), and possibly a specific stain remover for stubborn stains. Remove the shells and lining from the blouson/jacket.
2. Dusting: Use a damp cloth to remove surface dust and dirt particles.
Stain Pretreatment: If your blouson has stubborn stains, gently apply an appropriate stain remover to the stained area. Follow the product instructions and let it sit for the recommended duration.
3. Hand Cleaning: Fill a sink or bucket with lukewarm water and add a mild soap. Immerse the clean cloth in this soapy solution and wring it out to remove excess water. Gently clean the blouson by "rubbing" the dirty areas delicately. Focus on areas most prone to dirt, like elbows, wrists, and the collar. CAUTION: Do not scrub hard/with anything other than a soft cloth, to avoid damaging the fabric.
4. Rinsing: Rinse the clean cloth with clear water and wring it out. Then pass it over the blouson to remove any soap residue. Make sure to rinse all areas thoroughly.
5. Drying: Gently blot the excess water from the blouson with a clean, dry towel. Do not wring the blouson, as it may deform the fabric. For drying, hang it on a hanger or lay it flat in a well-ventilated place, away from direct sunlight or any heat source. Avoid using a dryer, as it may damage the fabric.
Additional Care: If your textile blouson is equipped with a removable lining, follow the manufacturer's specific instructions to clean it separately. Some textile blouson may also benefit from a waterproofing application to maintain their water resistance.
CLEANING YOUR GORE-TEX
1. Preparation: Remove the shells and lining from the blouson/jacket. Carefully read the manufacturer's care instructions. To remove stains and dirt, we recommend using a liquid detergent during a prewash. If your machine does not offer a prewash, soak your garment in warm water with liquid detergent.
2. Cleaning: Wash the GORE-TEX garment in the machine at 40 °C. For best results, use a small amount of liquid detergent. Clean it as often as necessary to remove impurities, campfire smoke odors, or kitchen odors. Choose a delicate cycle with moderate spinning. By reducing the spin - and thus the rotational and twisting movements - you will avoid creasing or damaging your garment. CAUTION: Do not use powder detergent, fabric softener, or chlorine.
3. Rinsing: To remove any trace of detergent or dirt, we recommend doing a second rinse cycle.
